In the past decade, queer representation has bloomed in the publishing industry and there are hundreds upon hundreds of stories to choose from. Xe Sands and  Jorjeana Marie are two of my all-time favorite narrators, and they’re both at the top of their game here. This is a slow burn romance. It’s everything I could ever ask from a narrator.

In 2012, Laura came out as trans and made it publicly known that she will continue to live life as a woman. Four narrators voice each of the four POV characters and every performance is a triumph. Their lives are marked by neglect and abuse, and so they find family in each other. Serano celebrates the trans experience, and her background in biology only lends more credibility to her writing.

Leaving Isn’t the Hardest Thingby Lauren Hough

Leaving Isn’t the Hardest Thing is a series of essays, each tackling a different time in Lauren Hough’s life—and there have been a lot of distinct moments.

This book of teenage yearning and first love is narrated beautifully by Sebastian Croft, and will enchant listeners looking for coming-of-age stories about first love, the struggle and agony of growing up, and boyhood friendship.
